I popped along to the new Dusk Till Dawn site this morning to see Smithers aka Nick Whitten in his portacabin and then remembered that the whole team have just headed over to St Kitts this morning on their jollies.
Nottingham has a lively poker scene but the bar will be raised when the five hundred player capacity DTD card room opens its doors next spring.
Casinos are far from my favourite places to hang out and I guess I like the idea of playing at a venue where I don’t have to walk past rows of roulette wheels and blackjack tables just to get to the poker room; surely the reason poker has had such a murky reputation until recent years must, in part, be down to the fact that casinos were the only venues that would host the games. The sooner more stand alone card rooms open the better.
I’m grateful that someone I know, Rob Yong, has taken the bull by the horns and is doing something about it. The club is about three miles away from where I live and if they install some bike racks I reckon I’ll be able to peddle there in about ten minutes; not really enough distance/effort to keep me fit but it might just be the start I need…
